SPRINT-Sport Partnership Runs In Natural Trails

 

SPRINT is a 18 month long Erasmus Plus Sport project proposal aimed at promoting participation in sport and physical activity and spreading awareness of the benefits of sport for all, not only for adults, to prepare them for a healthy ageing, but also for the young generations (especially from 18 till 35 years old) to create a strong and moral character in them and make them examples of excellent European citizenship. The target sport of the project is athletics that can be considered as an "elixir of long life practice" as it is an activity which can be safely enjoyed by people of all ages. SPRINT will start on May 2nd 2016 and have its conclusion on October 2nd 2017. During this period the partnership will share knowledge and experiences, compare programs and best practices and develop actions to increase and retain new potential athletes, with the specific objective to promote the European Week of Sport 2016 and 2017 and the importance of voluntary activities in sport, together with social inclusion, equal opportunities and awareness of the importance of health-enhancing physical activity through increased participation in, and equal access to, sport for all.

Actions:

- A transnational Awareness Campaign on the European Week of Sport 2016 “#BeActive” and 2017, and on the lifelong benefits of athletics and nordic walking, to be run both on web sites, social networks and in sport clubs. It will be targeted to adults and young people (youngsters from 18 to 35 years old) highlighting the enjoyable aspects of sport and the wellbeing results of leading an healthy lifestyle. May 2016-October 2017;

- International Project Conference Launch in Wieliszew-Poland and a 21km race. May 2016;

- Local Athletics Open Days to offer free courses, training sessions and friendly competitions to enthuse more and more over athletics and nordic walking (on the 1st and 3rd week end of each month). May 2016-October 2017;

- A Senior and Master Program containing training sessions, specific workouts, nutrition advice and guidelines. May 2016-October 2017;

- Mid-term international conference in Nafplio-Greece, during the European Week of Sport 2016, to evaluate the progresses achieved till that moment, correct and/or balance eventual strategies and present the first steps towards the identification and mapping of the 8 new pathways. To celebrate at the full the European Week of Sport 2016 a 10 km race will take place. September 10th-17th 2016;

- A Train the Trainers Program and first production of Guidelines of Sport Teaching Models to disseminate the project activities with the technical staff of sport clubs. September 2016-October 2017;

- Lifelong Athletics and Nordic Walking Open Days (conferences, seminars, workshops, training sessions, brainstorming sessions), to be organised in the partners’ countries in preparation to the European Week of Sport 2016 and 2017,  to promote the benefits of sport and the SPRINT achievements. September 2016-September 2017;

- International Final Conference in Orte-Italy during the European Week of Sport 2017 (September 9th-16th), and meeting with relevant athletic teams, stakeholders, sport institutions and international athletes (e.g. CONI-Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Regional Sport and Tourism offices, Emil Dobrowolski, Pawel Ochal, Agnieszka Mierzejewsk, Stefano Baldini, Orlando Pizzolato and Marcello Capotosti). Sport and tourist associations, onlus and all the interested citizenship will take part in it as well, to discuss on the enhancing of EU values in sports (in particular sport education, education environment, social inclusion for people with physical or mental disabilities, equal opportunities for women and active participation to develop a sense of European citizenship). Moreover, during this final event the representatives of the various sport teams will:

-Present the Final Guidelines of Teaching Models used, consolidate a common model to be disseminated at European level;

- Sign a Cooperation Agreement among the Partners, to officialise and strengthen their friendship bond;

- Participate at a 13 km competitive running race called “Trofeo delle 7 Contrade di Orte", that on September 2017 will see its eighteenth edition.

Activities managed by the Italian sport association “Ammappalitalia-Percorsi e tracciati da paese a paese” and by the Cypriot sport association “Cycling Club of Dali”, which are guests in the SPRINT project and bring an added value, will be running during all the project lifecycle as follows: walks in the countryside and mapping of natural trails, managed by “Ammappalitalia-Percorsi e tracciati da paese a paese” jointly with the official partner “Scuola Nordic Walking Tuscia”,  and bike rides managed by the “Cycling Club of Dali”, open not only to athletes but to all citizens, jointly with the technical mapping of new trails (1 in each partner Country) made by “Ammappalitalia”. At the end, during the Final International Conference in Orte there will be the presentation of the data mapping and collection of the 8 new pathways. September 9th-16th 2017.
