WASTE PROJECT
Working for a Society Through Environment - WASTE is bottom-up initiative that aims to raise awareness on the role of small communities in promoting a correct waste management, through the promotion of the EU action on waste management, together with the environment action programme to 2030 and European Green Deal.
The general objectives of the proposal are to:
- promote exchange between citizens of 11 EU Countries, in a democratic and bottom-up approach;
- foster Europeans’ participation at local and EU level through a long-term project, reinforcing mutual understanding and friendship bonds between citizens of different EU regions;
- encourage long-term cooperation and exchange between municipalities for the exchange of best practices, know-how and cross-fertilization of projects on the theme of waste management and sustainability;
- to support the improvement of local governance on the field of waste management and sustainability;
- to support the improvement of local governance on the field of waste management, sustainability and environment protection.
WASTE specific objectives are to:
- establish a network of municipalities and towns from different EU regions to work on a long-term basis (24 months);
- promote the direct engagement of citizens on the debate on environmental issues; - foster the exchange of practices and know-how across borders at a grassroots level;
- trigger the debate on the relevance of recycling for the society and the Future of Europe;
- involve and reactivate hard-to-reach groups to become aware of their role in supporting a sustainable future for their communities;
- foster the development of a common sense of responsibility and ownership of environmental issues and of EU policies and actions in the field.
WASTE Project will involve 12 partners from 11 Countries for a total of 760 direct participants in 5 international events
