Local Awareness Raising Event
Local Awareness Raising Events have been organized locally by each partner and followed different approaches depending on the peculiar level of activity and target groups of each partner.
The overall agenda of the meeting and the materials used have been discussed and prepared in coordination with the Project Management Team to assure the same quantity and quality of information was transferred to participants.
The events have been public and open to local communities, the activities carried out used different approaches, from frontal presentations to group work. This allowed for a differentiated target. People involved have all been over 18.
The Local Events have been led, monitored and analysed by hosting organizations.
Agenda of the events:
-Arrivals and registration of participants
-Introduction to the scope of the meeting
-Official greetings by hosting organizations
-Greeting from the Coordinator (through online message)
-Presentation of the CERV programme and Citizens engagement and participation strand
-EUCOMMvsDISINFO project’s presentation
-Introduction to the topic of disinformation and misinformation – Awareness raising on the risks of external interference to democratic debate - “Disinformation and EU Action” – Community fact checkers as a means of citizens engagement
-Practical activities and group work on how citizens can detect fake news.
-Q&A session
-Open session for participant’s contributions “The first time I noticed the media lied to me”
For the practical activities and group work the PMT prepared three activities, that were shared with hosting organizations, as suggestion for their work. Materials are then shared on the website to be freely downloadable and reusable. All materials bear the visual identity of the project and of the European Union.
Results of the events:
- 6 events in 5 EU Countries have been implemented at the local level, involving citizens of the community, PA and stakeholders;
- Awareness has been risen at the local level on the topic of disinformation and other forms of interference in the democratic debate;
- Media literacy was actively promoted and citizens have been empower to identify disinformation and reflect on they way they acquire information;
- Citizens have been engaged and made responsible for the circulation of information;
- Exchange between citizens and stakeholders has been encouraged, as well as citizens’ cooperation and active participation.
- The EUCOMMvsDISINFO and CERV programme have been disseminated and presented to a wider public and stakeholders have been informed of the funding opportunities.
- The funding of the project has been made explicit during all the activities.
