The project «VIEW - Volunteering and Immigration through European Work» was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme "Europe for Citizens" Applicable to the Strand 2 – Measure 2.1 "Town-Twinning”
Participation:
The VIEW project (618259-CITIZ-1-2020-1-HU-CITIZ-TT) involved 306 citizens, notably 125 participants from the Organization Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county government (Hungary), 40 participants from the Organization VAMOS (Cyprus), 28 participants from the Organization Kilkenny Twilight (Ireland), 43 participants from the the Organization Biodistretto della Via Amerina (Italy), 24 participants from the Local Council Association (Malta), 46 participants from the Organization Ente Ottava Medievale (Italy).
Location/ Dates: The event took place in Mezőkövesd-Zsóry and Miskolc (Hungary), from 31/08/2022 to 07/09/2022
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
All the Countries involved in VIEW – “Volunteering and Immigration through European Work” brought their experiences in volunteering, especially for what concerns theimmigration problem. The discussions based on inclusion and shelter policies, through teamwork. The mayors of Borsod County Government want to compare these topics with the mayors from other EU Countries. Immigration is an arising problem that should be solved through cooperation and solidarity among communities.
VIEW was useful to share different opinions on theresolution of this problem and its consequences. Sometimes the phenomenon leads to a lack of solidarity among people and to arising distancing from the fundamental values of the European Union, which are human dignity and the fight against discrimination. VIEW was an occasion to select potential solutions to this crucial phenomenon and to strengthen thebonds among the participant Countries. The partnership has been built by public and private (not-for-profit bodies) entities that involved a huge participation of mayors, their staff, citizens with public roles, etc.
